Using the gradient Base Paint in Paint Builder

You can use the gradient Base Paint layer in Paint Builder projects to achieve a gradient or fade effect to layers on your Paint Builder project.

In the Base Paint menu, select the gradient Base Paint — the one with green, red, and blue fading into each other (available on most cars). This will insert three new layers into the Base Paint portion of your project.

From there, you can change the ordering of your layers by clicking and dragging a Base Paint layer in the layers menu to move other Base Paint layers above or below the gradient base.

Try experimenting by showing or hiding different individual Base Paint layers (using the eye icon in the layers list) and changing the color of each gradient portion by selecting a Base Paint layer from the layers list and then selecting a new color from the Properties Panel (right column).

Paint Builder does not feature a dedicated gradient-fill tool at this time, but the gradient Base Paint option is powerful!
