We prefer that content created with generative AI is not used or posted in the Trading Paints Showroom.

Paints or preview images created or modified using generative AI tools are subject to moderation, per our Community Guidelines.

If you suspect a listing uses generative AI, please report the submission instead of accusing the poster.

Public: (default) anyone on Trading Paints can view and race your listing. Your paint will be displayed in search results and on Showroom listing screens. Your followers will receive a notification on the Trading Paints website.

Unlisted: only people with the link can view and race your listing. Your paint will not appear in search results and other Showroom listings. Your followers are not notified. This is a good option if you want to share a Showroom paint with someone privately. (Note: all community guidelines still apply.)

Approval: anyone on Trading Paints can view your listing, but you’ll need to approve any requests to race the paint in your messages inbox under Requests. Your followers will receive a notification when you post a listing as if it’s a Public paint, but anyone wishing to race the paint will require your manual approval. When you approve someone who requests to race a paint, they have the option to race it if they choose.

Showroom permissions are set at the individual paint level; in other words, you currently can’t change all of your paints to use one permission level.

Unlisted and Approval options are only available for Trading Paints Pro members.

• Fonts now show the text you’re inserting in the font selection dropdown menu, rather than a generic preview of the font name. This will provide a clearer and more accurate representation of how your text will look in each font instead of clicking through them one by one.

• Fixed an issue where Sim Preview wasn’t working on the Opera GX browser because it was expecting a Local Network Access prompt similar to other browsers.

Don’t post submissions to the Showroom that do not contain accurate iRacing screenshots. Everybody wants to see what your paint looks like when it’s in the sim (or iRacing 3D Car Viewer), not what it looked like in real life or in another game.

• Added a “Refresh List” button to the My Uploads screen. This way, if you send a layer to Paint Builder via Number Builder, you can quickly reload your list of uploads without the need to reload the entire Paint Builder app.

If you see this message when launching Downloader, it means the program won’t be in service until the work we’re doing on the program is complete.

We do our best to coincide any Trading Paints Downloader maintenance periods with scheduled iRacing downtime in order to minimize impact so you can see custom paints when you race.

Learn more about the newest updates to Number Builder

The Trading Paints website uses your browser’s Local Network Access to communicate with Trading Paints Downloader on your computer.

Starting with the release of Google Chrome version 142 in late October, when you sign in to Trading Paints, Chrome, Edge, and other Chromium-based browsers will request your permission for the Trading Paints website to communicate with Trading Paints Downloader on your computer.

Why does the Trading Paints website request this?

If you make changes to custom paints on the Trading Paints website while Downloader is running and you have Keep paints synced from website enabled, Downloader will attempt to update your paints immediately when they’re changed.

Additionally, this is a requirement for the Sim Preview feature in Paint Builder so that Paint Builder can send commands to Downloader in order to update your paint preview for iRacing.

To do this, your browser (Google Chrome, Microsoft Edge, and other Chromium-based browsers) may request access to look for and connect to any device on your local network. The Trading Paints website only looks for the instance of Trading Paints Downloader running on your local machine.

How do I set this permission?

Your browser may prompt you to allow access. Choosing Allow gives the Trading Paints website permission to communicate with Trading Paints Downloader.

If you chose Block initially when prompted, you may need to reset your browser settings.

To reset your settings, in your browser’s address bar, click the Settings icon while on tradingpaints.com, and then choose Site settings.

Then, under Local Network Access (this may be at the bottom of the list), choose Allow.

You may need to repeat these steps when inside Paint Builder specifically (on the paintbuilder.tradingpaints.com domain).

Why am I being prompted now when I wasn’t before?

Google Chrome 142 and Microsoft Edge 138 added a prompt to restrict the ability for websites to make requests to your local network — which includes Trading Paints Downloader running on a localhost address on your computer.

Functionality on Trading Paints has not changed; this is a change in how these web browsers now work.

Is enabling this permission required in order to use Trading Paints?

No. Trading Paints will still function normally to show custom paints in iRacing, even if you do not allow local network access permission.

The following features require this permission:

• Enabling Keep paints synced from website in Trading Paints Downloader will update files on your computer when you upload or assign a new paint or favorite a Collection.
• The Sim Preview feature of Paint Builder sends a command from the Paint Builder web app to Trading Paints Downloader so you can preview the paint you’re working on when you’re in iRacing.

If you choose to block local network access, these features will not work.

Removing old leagues from My Paints

You can remove or hide leagues you no longer wish to see on My Paints by going to My Paints when logged into your Trading Paints account, selecting a vehicle from the list, and then scrolling down to Leagues & Series.

Select the gear icon to open a list of all your leagues & series applicable to that vehicle. From there, you can uncheck the boxes for the leagues you’d like to hide. Press Save to save changes.
